7 Months!

Dean is doing great and getting big! We had him in the peds office this week for allergies (just like his mama he is allergic to anything that blooms LOL) and he weighed 16lbs 12oz.

She ok'd Benedryl for him so he is on that 3 times a day and it really seems to be helping. He is back to sleeping well (either through the night or waking once) and seems much happier. Poor little guy was not very happy with the itchy eyes and runny nose.

He is now sitting up like a pro and has been trying to pull himself up to stand. He is getting really good at reaching for toys and returning to the sitting position.

He has added chicken, peas, carrots, yogurt, peaches and mangos to his diet. He loves the chicken, sweet potato and applesauce recipe we made him. We are going to introducing turkey later this week and then will add egg yolk next week.

He is quite a piglet and has started adding a snack in the afternoon in addition to his bottles and 3 meals. We have been giving him Just Tomatoes brand of peaches and mangos. If you aren't familiar with them check them out, they are 100% fruits and veggies that have the water removed from them.... thats it nothing added so they are a great snack.

Speaking of bottles, pumping is really hard for me... I have plenty of milk but I'm not letting down well for the pump so it is a struggle to keep up. I'm pumping in the evenings and on the weekends just to keep up with his needs. I'm hopeful that I will be able to keep up for the next 5months.

Work is going well.... my current project hit a bit of roadblock when IT was pulled off of it to support another team that was having a major issue with the day to day business. Hopefully that will be resolved this week so we can get back on track with the project.

My other project is starting this week and is still in the very early stages. I'm excited about it but it is a little frustrating to be on commitee with team members who have never been on a special project. They are jumping ahead and spending too much time on the what ifs instead of focusing on what is important for right now. We are bringing in an exisiting software so this should be a fairly simple project in contrast to my current project which is a homegrown software that we are having to debug.

In other news.... our nanny announced her pg to us this morning, while I'm happy for her I'm more concerned about what this means for us. Her last pg was very hard for her and she missed alot of work at her old job because of how sick she was...... we simply can't have that, I need to have reliable care.

This info was mentioned to us in passing as we were heading out this morning so I don't know what her plans are after the baby is born but I can't imagine she will return to work for us (that would put her with 3 kids under 2 in her care). And even if she did want to I'm not sure that we would want that because the newborn would take away from the interaction with Dean and that is why we chose in home care to begin with........
Dh and I will have to look into our options, I really prefer in home care to day care until he is 2 so we may opt to go with an Au Pair.

Of course this all may be worry for nothing because........we went suit shopping for dh this weekend and he will have a special trip coming up here soon. I'll leave it at that and yes your thoughts are most likely correct LOL :-) and no his trip wouldn't be to a backwater state but rather another blue state......I hear they are a fan of beans there :)

Promotion!!

Wohooo!!!! Today was my year end review and after a very long year I was finally rewarded for my hard work with a promotion!!

The promotion came with a very nice pay increase too!! Not much will change in my day to day since I have been essentially doing the position for awhile now but I will have some additional meetings and more capabilities with in our software.

I am still going to be part of the project I have been working on for the past year and will be starting a new special project in a few weeks.

I'm also really excited because my team mate I mentored last year is also getting promoted :-)

Dh had a fantastic review also and recieved a nice merit increase. He is still hoping to reach the next level with in the year.

I'm on Linkedin now (just joined so my profile is naked and I have no connections LOL) so look me up if you are there too :-) I won't be posting the link in here because of my desire to keep my personal life completely seperate from work, so if you can't find me email me and I will send you the link.

First tooth!

We knew it was coming.... poor little man has been super cranky and not sleeping much at all. Sure enough when I got home from work today my poor mom (they are here for spring break) said Dean had been just miserable all day and then started feeling better after his late nap.

I peeked in his mouth and there it was! One tiny little tooth on his lower right side!!

6 Months!

WOW hard to believe the time has flown by and my little newborn is now becoming a big boy!

Dean is doing great and growing like a weed. He was 16lbs 1oz at his appt this week. He is in the 50th percentile for both height and weight. The ped we saw was not our normal one and was a little concerned that he wasn't sitting as well as he should be :roll eyes: well one week later he is sitting perfectly!! I think she forgot he was a 37wker.

He is eating everything in sight and still loves his squash. He is still in size small diapers but is starting to out grow them. He is starting to wear 6-9mo clothes and his 3-6mo really fit him perfectly.
Sarah is loving that he is now able to play and they have alot of fun playing peekaboo. He adores her and loves it when she reads to him.

Sleeping he is doing pretty well except for when his teeth are really bothering him. We are expecting one any day now :) For the most part he goes down between 6:30 and 7 and will get up one time around 2-3am. He wakes in the morning around 6 (which works well because of our work schedule). He takes 3 naps a day for about 3-4hrs total.

Almost 5 months!

Tomorrow Dean will be 5mo old! Things are going great.... he is a very happy little boy, with great belly laughs and the most adorable smile.

He is eating like a piggy and has so far tried avocado, bananas, butternut squash, sweet potatos, green beans and apples. His favorite is butternut squash; he will eat almost 4 oz of that in one sitting!! We will be adding oatmeal in this weekend and then he will be just mixing up foods until next month when we intro some new ones.

One would think with all this eating he would have decreased his milk intake.... nope! He still takes 10-12.5oz from our nanny and then nurses 6-8 times.

Sarah is doing well in school and has gotten 100% for the past 3wks in a row on her spelling test. Her reading is improving but still is proving to be her trouble area. She is unbelievably creatived and is always doing arts & crafts project in her free time.

She adores Dean and is loving playing with him now that he is able to interact with her.

Work is going well, super busy with my special project, some upcoming remodels and then just the normal work. I have been mentoring a new analyst (not new to the company just new to the postition) this week so that has been taking up most of my free time and then I will be starting with another mentor on Monday. The new analyst I am mentoring on Monday is brand new to the company.

I was approached yesterday by the manager of another team to see if I would be interested in leading a project for his team..... The project intrigues me but my own team has some very exctiting things going on over the next year that I am already slated to have a huge role in so I'm not sure what move I will make.

We have started planning our next trip to Disney in the fall.... we will be going over Thanksgiving and are still trying to decide which resort to stay at. This trip we are planning to take it slower than we have in the past and hit some of the things we weren't able to get to in the past (ie most of Epcot, several of the shows ect). It will be interested to see how it works with Dean.

For our spring holiday we are just going to stay local, I'm hoping the weather is nice and we can go into the city to some of the museums.

Well that is all for now..... back to the grindstone :-)

You shook me all night long

Well actually just for about 5 seconds at 3:56am today...... yep I thought we had left California and the earthquakes behind but I guess I was wrong. The 4.3 magnitude quakes center was just 7miles from our house. I had just finished nursing Dean and the lamps on the bedside table started to shake...... by the time I had said "What the heck is that" to dh it was over.

Everyone was fine and nothing was even knocked over by it. Interesting to say the least.

Everything else is going well..... Super busy at work right now.

Dean is doing well on solids and is now eating sweet potato. I have been making all of his babyfood and so for Valentine's day dh is getting me a BabyCook YAY! I never thought I would be excited for a kitchen appliance as a gift LOL but if it saves me from having to dirty up 2 appliances (the steamer and cuisinart) and its all dishwasher safe it gets my seal of approval!

At his ped appt 2wks ago he was 13lbs and 24.75inch... gaining 8oz and 1in since his 3mo appt. He is tiny but growing steadily so she isn't concerned. He is now in the 50th percentile for height and 25th for weight.

This weekend is another RV show and this time they will have the smaller ones we want to look at so I think we may go on Saturday.

Well back to work!
